SPECIALTIES SERVICES

EVALUATION AND DIAGNOSIS

If you have any concerns about your child's development, mental health or learning please contact me for a consultation and an evaluation.

REMEDIATION AND 1:1 THERAPY

I provide 1:1 therapy for children and teens.   I use a blended approach that optimizes each child's outcome and helps them develop the psychological tools they need to succeed.

Remediation is done thoughtfully to create new neural pathways that help the child become a better learner.  Strategies will improve academic abilities and build on foundational skills such as attention, motivation, and cognitive organization.

RISE AND SHINE

This program offers families the opportunity to begin services immediately after diagnosis.  There is frequently a lag between diagnosis and the beginning of treatment.  This is a critical window and the sooner your child begins treatment, the better their outcome will be.

LITTLE COAST

These groups will allow your child to connect with peers in an enjoyable and structured environment.  Groups have typical peers that volunteer as peer mentors.  By scaffolding social interactions children feel competent and successful.  The groups are 45 minutes long and are offered to children two to five years old.  This group will be the highlight of your child's week!

SCHOOL CONSULTATIONS AND PLACEMENTS

Many parents are concerned about whether or not their child's school is helping them achieve their true potential.  I can visit your child at school to observe and provide commentary regarding goodness of fit.  Many of the children I work with attend mainstream schools.  If there are challenges in these typical environments, I can interface with the teachers, and provide strategies to insure student success.

COAST FOR CHILDREN AND TEENS

These social skills groups are for school aged children and teens.  They also include typical children that serve as peer models.  Children work together to play games, and sports, talk laugh, and share.  These groups are offered weekly and run for 45 minutes.  There are virtual options available for older children and young adults.

PARENTING TRAINING

Many parents experience feelings of frustration and become overwhelmed at times.  We provide parent training on topics of common interest as well as family sessions to provide training specific to your child.

NEUROPSYCHOLOGICAL EVALUATIONS

Neuropsych testing can be beneficial for school applications and to guide intervention.  The emphasis of my evaluations are to identify strengths and weaknesses and to create a meaningful and useful set of recommendations that significantly improve each child's outcome.

SIBLING SUPPORT

I created a group at the JCC called Sibfun and ran this group from 2005 to 2010.  The group offered a place for siblings of developmentally challenged children an outlet for their emotions.  I also work with siblings individually.  There is frequently ambivalence associated with having a sibling with special needs and therapy can offer a chance to work though these complex feelings.

COAST FOR ADULTS AND INDIVIDUAL THERAPY

Young adults on the spectrum face a unique set of challenges.  I can provide assistance increasing young adults with ASD's independence and help them develop and work on  individual goals.  I provide psychotherapy that is modified to be effective.  Through this process young adults will increase emotional awareness and emotional expression.
